Are You Generating Jealousy at Work?

Jealous feelings crop up at work all the time. If you receive praise, get promoted, or find yourself in the spotlight, your colleagues are likely to feel jealous. Similarly, if someone you work with gets promoted, receives praise, or gains favor with the boss, you may feel jealous as well. In this episode of My Crazy Office, Kathi and Katherine discuss how to manage jealousy at work.

  • The two of you have such a wonderful Yan (Kathi) and Yin (Katherine). Thinking about jealousy reminds me of the line
from Malachy McCourt: about resentment, it’s “like taking poison and waiting for the other person to die.” Like so many behaviors, jealousy says more about the person expressing it than about the one who encounters it. How, when am I feeling jealous, do I see the roots – my own insecurity – and tend to those roots rather than think someone else is the problem!
